Most of Queen Mary’s 15,000 students occupy a self-contained campus in the increasingly fashionable East End of London. Even the large medical school, Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, is based in nearby Whitechapel.
However, Queen Mary’s latest venture breaks the mould since it is opening a new medical school in Malta. The bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery (MBBS) Malta programme will be taught and delivered by QMUL staff on the island of Gozo. It will closely match the London course, with first students arriving in September 2016.
