Stirling is Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence. It could also lay claim to being Britain’s University for Scenic Beauty.
Still relatively small, with only 11,000 students, it has one of the most beautiful campuses in the UK, 330 acres of parkland around a loch at the foot of the Ochil hills.
While the hills offer plenty of sporting options for runners and walkers, the campus is well stocked with outstanding sports facilities, and home to the Scottish national swimming and tennis centres, as well as a golf course and a football academy.
