This course will give you the essential qualification that you need to work in social care. If you are already employed in this sector, legislation requires you to be qualified to at least this level. It is divided into classroom sessions covering four compulsory units, and two optional units. These units are flexible and are tailored to your job role. To achieve each unit you will need to show competence in both theory and practical. As the NVQ is a vocational qualification, your performance in the workplace is very important and you should ensure that you are experienced enough to carry out required tasks unsupervised. During the course you will be asked to provide written evidence of your knowledge and understanding. These assignments will be assessed, along with your performance in the workplace. As long as you have successfully demonstrated competence in both theory and practical aspects of the all units, you will be awarded the qualification. Once you have completed a Level 2 in Care and you have gained more experience, you may progress onto the NVQ Level 3 if working in a position where you supervise others.
