This course is designed to cover the full range of topics and tasks as laid down by the awarding body in response to industry requirements. All practical activities are carried out within out start of the art workshops with theory work being a mix of classroom and assignment activities. The topics include: NVQ Level 1. This course consists of 11 units which range from Health and Safety to who does what in the building trade. Practical subjects are also covered so that basic skills demanded by industry are covered. Some examples are: Identifying materials; Loading and unloading various materials; Using hand tools; Making small window frames; Getting to know where the correct joints should be etc. This course consists of theory and practical assessments for all units taken when you and your lecturer feel that you are capable of achieving the standards required for industry. Arrangements will then be made so that the assessment can take place. It should be noted that the job knowledge should be completed before the practical assessment.
